Tea Party for an 85th Birthday

On February 1st 2010, my Grandmother turned 85 years old. 85!! Can you image all of the history she has seen, been around the time of and been through since 1925?!?!

Things Like

The Great Depression
Rampage of Bonnie and Clyde
Marilyn Monroe's Time
She lived the same time as Anne Frank
She was alive for Amelia Earhart's last flight
World War II
Japan surprise attack on Pearl Harbor
Atomic bombing of Nagasaki
The Beatles
Kennedy assassination
Martin Luther King Jr.
For the first time in history, an American human being sets his foot on the Moon
9/11 terror attacks
Vietnam War
Operation Iraq Freedom
and so so much more

SO for my grandmother 85th birthday, I wanted to throw a party that would be extra special, and something she would really remember! I threw her a Tea Party Birthday Party! Tea, Derby hats, roses and pearls. HAHA. It was so neat, and she really enjoyed it!

Here are some pictures from the event hee hee, with a few extra things thrown in. ENJOY!

Bellas Bones

See how much my Jasper and Bella LOVE Bellas Bones:

So the other day my husband and I decide to visit the new bakery in Danville. Shorty’s Bakery. ….if you even know where Danville, Va is…. The bakery is on the tiny road between the Coleman market place and Hobby Lobby..... So anyways we’re checking out the bakery and woot woot Cheese Danish! My Favorite!!! Ok so now I'm hooked. Looking around a little more and lo and behold DOGGIE COOKIES!! Oh and they are named “Bella’s Bones”! Hello I have Jasper and Bella….. so ooo it was meant to be. HAHA. So I check out the cookies and they are made with all natural ingredients from someone right here in Danville! Awesome! I WAS buying cookies from Wal-Mart for my puppies…..like the holiday ones…. BUT AHHHH have you noticed on the back that the ‘icing ones’ and covered with Paraffin wax?!?!?!?!?! AHHH NO. Just say NO to stupid Wal-Mart dog cookies.

ANYWAYS back on subject… so I buy some Bella’s Cookies from the bakery for my pups, take them home and my dogs go psycho over them!!!! Amazing little cookies! Plus NO sugar is added to these cookies! Purely awesome for my pups, because I ONLY want the best for them!!

Kristina Taylor makes these awesome pup cookies and her doggie Bella is the official taste tester! And I also hear that she makes some awesome “pupcakes” (cupcakes for pups) haha and puppy friendly carrot cakes for like puppy birthdays and such!!

Here is what Kristina had to say about how Bellas Bones Came to be:

“It all started when I adopted my beautiful Bella! I started making some homemade dog treats for her, but she couldn't eat all of them herself, so I shared them with other dog lovers. One thing led to another and people were wanting more treats for their pets! I make all of the treats in my little kitchen and Bella is my official taste tester! All of my treats come gift wrapped for free as well! Feel free to request treats or a birthday cake.”

She uses natural ingredients that are very dog friendly in her cookies Which include…
unbleached flour, water, rolled oats, cornmeal, vegetable oil, peanut butter, eggs, vanilla\
And for the Icing on the cookies she uses; egg yolk & food coloring or you can have white chocolate, food coloring, sprinkles.

Also I know some people will have some questions about the white chocolate. “Hey isn’t chocolate bad for dogs?” Answer: Yes, BUT as you can see Kristina uses white chocolate in some of her icing. BUT of course you can opt for the Egg white icing instead. But Anyways back to the White Chocolate. White Chocolate isn’t really Chocolate at all.
OO and guess what as well….. dogs are not actually allergic or poisoned by the oh so wonderful chocolate. It is actually the theobromine in chocolate that is lethal to dogs. Therefore because white chocolate does not contain cocoa solids, one aspect of white chocolate is that it contains only traces of theobromine, which means it can be safely consumed by individuals who must avoid theobromine for medical reasons. Theobromine is found in the cocoa solids and other ingredients of chocolate that give it the characteristic brown color. In contrast to white chocolate, dark chocolate contains the largest amount of theobromine because it contains the largest amount of cocoa solids.

Which chocolate is the safest, relatively speaking. White chocolate. It has the least amount of theobromine: 1 mg per ounce. How much White Chocolate is to much???
200 ounces per pound of body weight. It takes 250 pounds of white chocolate to cause signs of poisoning in a 20-pound dog, 125 pounds for a 10-pound dog.

SO unless you’re putting an IV of White Chocolate into your dog, they will be ok :)

HELLO KITTY! Birthday Cookie and Centerpiece

HELLO KITTY! Birthday Cookie and Centerpiece

I was in Charge of making Hello Kitty Cookies for my Friends little Girls 2nd Birthday... BUT I had no Hello Kitty Cookie cutter...so I opened my Provo Craft Cricut and my Hello Kitty Cartridge and cut a Hello Kitty Shadow to uses as a Pattern for my Cookies! I then layed the cut on on the dough and hand cut the cookies!! They looked great!

Then I thought.. WOW.. finally I've used this Hello Kitty, she is soo cute, so then I decided to make a paper bouquet YAY! how cute! I used the Hello Kitty Cricut Cartridge and cut out Hello Kitty Head, Hello Kitty, the Strawberry and the Butterfly. I glued the Hello Kitty, the Strawberry and the Butterfly to some wooden skewers and placed then inside the glass vase and filled it with pretty glass rocks, and then slid the Hello Kitty Face between the rocks and the glass. I think it came out pretty Darn cute!

Turning a Shirt into a Tank Top.

I needed a Referee Shirt for my Halloween Costume But I didn't want a box looking shirt, I wanted a Tank Top. So I made my Own!! Look at my Referee Tank top!!! How cute!! I made that out of a regular referee shirt i got at DICKS.

Here are the instructions!

1. Choose your shirt.

2. Flip the T-shirt over and cut through the back, sleeve to sleeve (underneath). BACK ONLY -Be careful not to cut through the front. Start at the bottom of the sleeve on the back of the tshirt, and cut across the back of the shirt to the bottom of the other side like this: )--------(

3. Cut through the center of the T-shirt's backside from the neckline to the cut made previously made underneath the sleeves, forming 2 flaps which will eventually become your neck straps. You will kind of have cut an upside down T.

4. Cut the sleeves completely off of the shirt, at the seam. Now, narrow the flaps you made in the previous step, into your desired strap size. I chose to make mine thick and then I twisted them before I tied them behind my neck.

5. Turn the shirt around and cut your desired neckline into the front (V-neck, slit, etc).

6. ALL DONE! :)
